ABOUT LAURA

Laura White

My work has been shaped by one central question:

How do people actually change?

Over the years, I have studied different approaches to human behaviour, communication, personal change and the ways people experience and respond to their inner world.

What has interested me most is not simply why a pattern exists, but what allows someone to begin experiencing and responding differently.

That question eventually led to the development of the way I work today.

FROM UNDERSTANDING TO APPLICATION

Understanding ourselves can be enormously valuable.

But understanding something and changing it are not necessarily the same process.

A person can understand a behaviour, recognise where it came from, know what triggers it and genuinely want to respond differently - and still find the same response happening.

That gap has always interested me.

What happens between consciously wanting something to change and actually responding differently when the familiar situation occurs?

My work developed around exploring that question practically.

Rather than relying on one particular technique or school of thought, I became interested in how different aspects of human experience can be worked with according to the purpose they serve in the change process.

HOW I CAME TO WORK THIS WAY

My professional education has crossed several areas of human change.

I have studied counselling and human change, psychotherapy and relationship counselling, applied coaching, hypnotherapy, Ericksonian communication, NLP, Timeline Therapy and mind-body practices.

Each field offered a different perspective.

But over time, I became less interested in defining change according to a particular modality and more interested in a simpler question:

What is useful for this person, with this pattern, for this purpose?

That principle continues to guide my work.

I don't believe every person needs the same exercise simply because two people use the same label for what they want to change.

People experience patterns differently.

The work should respond to the person — rather than requiring the person to fit a predetermined process.

MY APPROACH

I see the person I'm working with as the authority on their own experience.

I can provide structure, ask questions, teach exercises, guide attention, observe what is happening and adapt the process.

But I am not inside your experience.

You are.

That is why participation is central to Applied Human Change.

I provide the structure and guidance. You notice what happens within your own experience and communicate what is relevant as we work.

There is no requirement to produce a particular response or have the experience I expect you to have.

I guide the process. You do the internal work.

FUNCTION BEFORE TECHNIQUE

My approach is not built around applying the same technique to every problem.

I am interested first in what we are trying to accomplish.

What is the pattern?

How is it being experienced?

What happens when it begins?

What would the person like to experience or do differently?

Only then does the question become: what kind of exercise or process may be useful here?

My professional background gives me different ways of thinking about human experience and change, but the purpose comes before the technique.

The method is selected for the work. The person is not selected for the method.

PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

My education and training include:

Bachelor of Counselling and Human Change

Postgraduate Studies in Applied Coaching

Diploma of Psychotherapy & Relationship Counselling

Diploma of Hypnotherapy

Certificate in Ericksonian Communication

NLP Practitioner Certification

Timeline Therapy Certification

Bikram Yoga Teacher Certification

My background across these different areas has contributed to the way I understand attention, behaviour, internal experience, communication, embodiment and personal change.

Applied Human Change brings that background into a practical, structured approach while remaining distinct from any single modality in which I have trained.

WHAT APPLIED HUMAN CHANGE IS

Applied Human Change is an educational and experiential personal-development service.

During a personalised session, I teach and guide you through structured internal exercises designed around the particular pattern you want to change.

The work is active and participatory.

You remain awake, aware and able to communicate with me throughout the process.

Applied Human Change is not offered as counselling, psychotherapy, psychological assessment, diagnosis, medical care or mental-health treatment.

My professional training informs my understanding of human change, but your Applied Human Change session is provided specifically as personal-development work.

READY TO WORK ON A PATTERN DIFFERENTLY?

If there is something you understand, genuinely want to change and yet repeatedly find yourself doing or experiencing, Applied Human Change offers a practical way to begin actively working with it.

Your personalised work begins before we meet, with a detailed questionnaire that I review before designing your individual session.

Less time talking about the pattern. More time actively working with it.
